Websites for solicitors

Solicitor website design, built page by page around how clients choose a solicitor

Raise The Bar Websites designs and builds websites for solicitors, from sole practitioners to multi-office firms, starting at £1,995. A typical high street firm's site goes live in 2 to 4 weeks, with practice-area pages, fee earner profiles and the pricing and complaints pages the SRA Transparency Rules describe already in place.

Why do most solicitor websites lose enquiries?

Clients do not choose a solicitor the way they choose a plumber. They are often stressed, sometimes grieving, and almost always comparing three or four firms in different tabs. Most solicitor websites lose them at one of four points:

  1. They cannot find a price. Since December 2018 the SRA has required firms offering services such as residential conveyancing and uncontested probate to publish price information on their website. Plenty of firms technically do, on a page nobody can find.
  2. They cannot tell who will do the work. A list of partner names is not the same as a profile that says what this person handles every week.
  3. The practice-area page is generic. "We offer a full range of family law services" tells a parent in the middle of a separation nothing.
  4. The enquiry form asks too much, or too little. Either it wants a case summary before the client has decided to trust you, or it sends everything to one inbox where it waits two days.

What is included in a solicitor website build?

Part of the site What we build

Home page

Who you are, where you are, what you do best, and a quote or callback form above the fold

Practice-area pages

One per area, written from your brief: who it is for, how it works, what it costs, what happens next, and FAQs

Pricing pages

Clear pages for any service the SRA Transparency Rules cover, including the elements the rules list: total or range of cost, basis of charges, disbursements, VAT, key stages and timescales, and who does the work

Fee earner profiles

Photo, role, practice areas, experience and qualifications, plus author markup so Google can link them to the guides they write

Complaints page

Your complaints procedure and how to contact the Legal Ombudsman, as the rules require

SRA badge and number

In a prominent place, linked to your mySRA record

Enquiry routing

Forms that go to the right team, and into Clio, LEAP, Osprey or Actionstep where possible

Legal pages

Privacy notice, cookie banner and terms, built to ICO guidance on consent

Search foundations

Page titles, LegalService and FAQ schema, sitemap, Google Search Console and Analytics

We know the rules well. Your COLP still signs off what is published, because the regulatory responsibility always stays with the firm.

Usual package Starter or Practice Practice or Group

How does the build work?

  1. Brief (day 1). One written form. Practice areas, fee earners, prices you already publish, systems you use.
  2. Design (week 1). A real home page and one practice-area page for you to approve.
  3. Content and build (weeks 1 to 3). We write, you check for legal accuracy, we build.
  4. Launch (week 2 to 4). Redirects, badge check, Google submission, and a baseline record of where you rank and what AI tools say about your firm.

Frequently asked questions

What pages does a solicitor's website need?

At minimum: a home page, one page per practice area, fee earner profiles, a pricing page for any service covered by the SRA Transparency Rules, a complaints procedure page, a contact page and your privacy and cookie notices. Most firms also benefit from a FAQ page and a small set of client guides.

Do you write the content or do we?

We do. We write every practice-area page from a short written brief, then your fee earners check it for legal accuracy. You are never handed a blank template and asked to fill it in.

Can you move our existing site without losing our Google rankings?

Yes. We map every page that currently ranks or brings in enquiries, keep those addresses where we can, and redirect the rest. Migration is included on the Practice and Group packages and quoted separately on Starter.

Will our conveyancing quote calculator still work?

If it comes from a third-party provider, we embed it. If you do not have one, we can build a simple price page or quote form that sets out the information the SRA asks for on residential conveyancing.

Do you put the SRA badge on the site?

Yes. We add the clickable SRA badge in a prominent place once your website address is registered in mySRA. The SRA asks firms to allow 24 hours after updating mySRA before the badge will work.

Is WordPress better for a law firm website?

Not necessarily. We build fast static sites that are hard to hack and cheap to host, with simple editing for profiles and news. If your firm needs WordPress for a specific reason, tell us in the brief.

How many revisions do we get?

Two full rounds on every package. Most firms use one.
